16 Days Serengeti & Selous & Zanzibar

A native African tribe Masai, can be found in the area of the Ngorongoro Crater, and the crater has the highest density of lions in the world.

Day 01 Arrival
You will be met at the International Airport of Kilimanjaro by our representative. We will take you to the Mount Meru Game Lodge, an atmospheric lodge located in the foothills of Mt Meru with an attached game sanctuary. Our safari manager will come to meet you and to provide you with a safari briefing.
NB – if you arrive into another airport than Kilimanjaro we’ll arrange a connection flight to Arusha either on arrival or the following day (at extra cost). From Nairobi also road transfers in private or shared vehicles possible.

Day 02 Arusha – Ngorongoro
Your Tour starts with the drive from Arusha via base of the Great Rift Valley to Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area. After checking in at your lodge and lunch your program starts in the afternoon with a Nature Walk on the Endoro Trail at the Ngorongoro Crater Forest inhabited by buffaloes, elephants, baboons, monkeys and different species of birds. Escorted by an armed ranger you follow animal paths through bush trails to the so called Elephant Caves and to a nice waterfall. Return to your lodge for an hour of rest or so before it is time for dinner.
Driving time without game viewing approx 3 hours.

Day 03 Ngorongoro Crater
Spend another day at Ngorongoro Conservation Area home of the world famous Ngorongoro Crater. It is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and a natural sanctuary for some of Africa’s densest animal populations and one of the few places where the rare black rhino can be observed in its natural habitat.
There are various options to spend the reminder of the day (at additional cost):
• Visit of a Masai Village (extra cost of 30 USD per vehicle)
• Game drive at the Ngorongoro Crater Floor (295 USD Ngorongoro Crater Fee per vehicle)
• Ranger guided Nature Walk along the Crater Rim (25 USD per person)

Day 04 Ngorongoro – Serengeti
After breakfast you start on your way to Serengeti National Park. After stopping for your picnic lunch on a kopje (rock outcropping) in Serengeti you will continue further into the park and go on a game drive.
Driving time without game viewing approx 3,5 hours.
Overnight at Mapito Tented Camp at Ikoma, Northern Serengeti. All meals included.

Day 05 Serengeti


Early morning game drive to see also nocturnal predators returning from hunting and animals waking up in early morning light. Full day of game drives around Serengeti. Depending on the time of year and the migration of the herds you can expect to see wildebeest, lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, baboons, hippos, rhinos, antelopes and many birds and other species. As in Ngorongoro your Driver / Guide will be in contact with other safari drivers and will amaze you with his skill at locating hidden animals.
Overnight at Mapito Tented Camp at Ikoma, Northern Serengeti. All meals included.
Option: Hot Air Balloon Safari (not yet included – pls book well in advance if you are interested since there is very limited space)
Early rise to join a Hot Air Ballon Safari most probably the most beautiful balloon flight in the world and the ultimate Safari Experience. At dawn we take off, rising as the sun rises and float in whichever direction the winds of the morning take us. Your pilot can precisely control the altitude of your balloon: sometimes flying at treetop height, sometimes lower, offering a unique perspective and great photographic opportunities of the wildlife below. At other times he will ascend to 1000′ or more to see the enormity and wonderful panorama of the Serengeti. After the landing you celebrate with champagne (well, an excellent sparkling wine) and a full English breakfast prepared and served in the bush in ‘Out of Africa’ style. After breakfast you receive your Serengeti Balloon certificate you drive back to your lodge or proceed with your day’s activities and game drives around the Serengeti.

Day 06 Serengeti – Selous
After Lodge breakfast we take you to the nearest Airstrip in the Serengeti for your flight to Selous Game Reserve. Transfer from the airstrip to your lodge for a meeting with the lodge manager to discuss your program for the following two days. Enjoy great sundown from the lodge’s unique lounge area. Your lodge consists of stone cottages and luxury tented bandas suituated over Beho Beho Hillside of Sable Mountain.

Day 07 / 08 Selous Game Reserve
Two full of game drives at Selous Game Reserve named after the explorer Frederick Selous. The Selous Game Reserve is the largest protected wildlife reserve, a UN World Heritage site and a pristine uninhabited area larger than Switzerland. The topography of the park varies from rolling savannah woodland, grassland plain and rocky outcrops cut by the Rufiji River and its tributaries. Activities are game drives, a walking safari and a boat trip at Lake Tagalala where crocodiles, hippos and grazing game can be seen.

Day 09 Selous – Zanzibar
After breakfast, transfer to Selous Airstrip for your connecting flight to Zanzibar around 10:30. Transfer to your beach hotel.

Day 10 – 14 Beach Extension
Relax and enjoy the beaches of Zanzibar. Breakfast and dinner included.

Day 15 Spice Tour & Stonetown



After breakfast transfer to Stonetown. On the way we will do the famous Spice Tour. We have developed a special Spice Tour with in depth information not only about spices, but also organically grown herbs and a detailed description about their traditional uses in medicine cosmetics and cooking. After the tour we invite for an opulent lunch at, where you can taste the spices and fruits.
In the afternoon we will show you Stone Town on our Historical Stone Town Tour. This tour takes you through fabled Stone Town, where history appears to stand still. With visits to the Arab Fort and the Anglican Church amongst others, it is a fascinating look at the essence of Zanzibar. You will see Zanzibar’s bustling market, winding alleyways, ornately carved and studded doors, two cathedrals and countless mosques!

Day 16 Departure
Departure transfer to Zanzibar Airport for your departure.
