The Rufiji River flows to the Indian Ocean and has been designated as an eco-photo tourist sight for its hippos, rhinos and other more attractions.

Itinerary

Day 1Flying From Zanzibar to Selous Game Reserve

Our professional driver will pick you up from the hotel and transfer you to Zanzibar International Airport for the flight to Nyerere National Park. On arrival at the Mtemere Airstrip, you will be taken by our professional drivers to the Africa Safari Selous for relaxation. Later, you will go for a village walking tour with our professional guide to see various activities conducted by the villagers and learn about their culture. After completing the village tour, you will return to Africa Safari Selous for lunch.

From 4:00 pm till to sunset, you will do a boat safari tour on the Rufiji River, the biggest and longest river in Tanzania. It is approximately 600 kilometers (370 miles) long, with its source in southwestern Tanzania and its mouth on the opposite side of the Indian Ocean. The river has many attractions including crocodiles, hippos, river cliffs, birds and more.

Day 2Full Day Game Drive in Nyerere National Park

After breakfast, you will do a full-day game drive from 7:30 am until the evening in Nyerere National Park (formerly known as Selous Game Reserve). The journey will start from the Africa Safari Camp where you will be picked up by our professional drivers and guides. Today, you will get to enjoy various tourist attractions like spotting wildlife including elephant, zebra, giraffe, antelope and more. You will also see birds and other landscape scenery with varied topography including wetlands, dry grassland, light acacia forest and higher grounds with vast views of far-off mountains.

In the afternoon, you will get a packed lunch and some time to rest. Then continue with the game drive until evening. Return to Africa Safari Selous for dinner, sleep and preparation for the last day.

Day 3Full-Day Game Drive on Different Routes in Nyerere National Park

After breakfast, you will do another full-day game drive until evening. Go on different routes from the previous day, starting from the Africa Safari Camp where you will be picked up by our professional drivers and guides. Today, you will get to see various animals including elephant, zebra, giraffe, antelope and more. You will also see birds, landscape scenery with varied topography including wetlands, dry grassland, light acacia forest, and higher ground with vast views of far-off mountains.

Day 4Fully Day Boat Safari At Rufiji River

After breakfast, you will do a full-day boat safari from 7:30 am until the evening at Rufiji River. The journey will start from the Africa Safari Camp where you will be picked up by our professional drivers to the Rufiji River, the biggest and longest river in Tanzania. It is approximately 600 kilometers (370 miles) long, with its source in southwestern Tanzania and its mouth on the opposite side of the Indian Ocean. The river has many attractions including crocodiles, hippos, river cliffs, birds and other animals such as elephants come to drink water, and many more tourist attractions that you can enjoy.

Day 5Bushman Walking Safari & Flying to Zanzibar

On your last day, before breakfast, you will have a walking tour in the forest with our Bushman, accompanied by an armed ranger. We will return to the hotel for breakfast and prepare for our trip to the Mtemere Airstrip, where you will be picked up by our drivers for your flight to Zanzibar.
